Funeral services for Harry Johansen, 58, will be held at Peace United Church of Christ in Bennett at 1:30 p.m. today, with the Rev. Alvin Volle of Elkader, former Bennett minister, in charge. Burial will be in Inland cemetery.

Mr. Johansen died of a heart attack shortly after the Bennett-Tipton basketball game at Mt. Vernon Monday. Mr. Johansen had returned to his car with his wife and son preparing to start the car for the trip home, when he slumped over the wheel.

Pallbearers will be Reldo Schnack, Neil Boyle, Otto L. Schnack, Wilbur Eggert and Arnold Wuestenberg of Bennett and Don Conrad of Tipton. Ernest RIedesel Jr. will sing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mrs. Riedesel will be organist.

Mrs. Otto Schnack, Mrs. Arnold Wuestenberg, Mrs. Wilbur Eggert and Mrs. Donald Juchter are in charge of flowers. It has been suggested by the family that friends may, if they wish, contribute to the memorial fund of Peace United Church of Bennett.

The son of John and Alvena Meeves Johansen, Harry Claus Johansen was born Nov. 21, 1904 in Cedar county and spent his entire life in the Bennett community.

He was married to Evelyn Von Muenster Feb. 22, 1936 at Davenport.

At the time of his death Mr. Johansen was a county committeeman for the Cedar County Agriculture Stabilization-Conservation service, a position he had held since 1950. Before that he was a township committeeman and a corn sealer for the A.S.C.

He served as president and secretary of the Inland township Farm Bureau and was active in the Farmer's Fire association of Bennett.

Mr. Johansen was a member of the board of education of the Bennett Community school from 1947 to 1969 and served as president of the board for 11 years.

He operated a farm about a mile northeast of Bennett at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Gerald, Tipton and Lindley, at home and a sister, Mrs. Herbert (Ella) Holdorf, New Liberty.
