Funeral services for James Thomas Garlick, 74, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 8 at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home in Tipton with Gordon Smith of Clarence officiating. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Graveside services will be by the Garey Whalen post of the American Legion.

Pallbearers will be grandsons of Mr. Garlick. Mrs. Irma Crawford will be organist and Mrs. Ray Knouse and Mrs. Ed Skladzien will be in charge of flowers.

Mr. Garlick died at Veterans hospital in Iowa City March 5 after an extended illness.

The son of George Thomas and Alice Boyle Garlick, he was born June 18, 1888 at Tipton and spent his life in the Tipton community where he was employed as a meat cutter and butcher. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the army.

He is survived by his wife, 4 daughters, Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Shotwell, Mrs. Vincent (Virginia) Carlson; Mrs. Vernon (Francis) Wagner, all of Tipton, and Mrs. LeRoy (Betty) Younger, Commerce City, Colo.; a son, Harlan, Tipton; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
