March 21, 1890 - The Clarence Sun

Suddenly, on last Saturday morning the flame of life went out and the spirit of Mrs. M. K. H. Reed returned to Him who gave it. For some time it was known to friends that she was feeling poorly, but by none was she considered dangerous, and when upon attempting to rise that morning she suddenly expired, it was a shock, not only to the members of the family but to the community in general. Mrs. Reed, with her husband (now deceased), was one of the early settlers of this section and enjoyed an extended acquaintance. The funeral service was held at the Presbyterian church Monday, Rev. Downing officiating, assisted by Rev. Manning, the pulpit being crowned with beautiful floral tributes, and a large audience gathered to pay their last respects to their departed friend. The remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery.
