Funeral services for Herman Wiebel, 78, who died Jan. 27 in his home in Lowden after an illness of 8 years were held Jan. 29 in Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden, following a prayer service in the family home. The Rev. Theo. J. Eickelberg officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery.

Mr. Wiebel was born Oct. 1, 1884 north of Lowden on the Wiebel homestead, the son of Fred and Dorothea Klipp Wiebel. He received his education in Trinity Day school and Lowden high school.

Feb. 18, 1909, he was married to Katherine Mente. They farmed the home place where they operated Wiebel's Dairy for 14 years. They retired in 1944 and moved into Lowden.

Mr. Wiebel was a life-long member of Trinity church, Lowden, where he served as church trustee and financial secretary. He also served as township trustee.

Survivors are his widow, 3 daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Dorothy) Hintze, Newhall, Mrs. Myron (Lillian) Schneider, Lowden, and Lydia Wiebel, Cedar Rapids; 2 sons, Fred and Herbert, Lowden; 5 sisters, Mrs. Emma Meyer, Hartley; Mrs. Ida Hoffmeier, Lowden; Mrs. William Sessler, Newhall; Mrs. H. O. Hoffmeier, Maquoketa and Alvina Wiebel, Cedar Rapids; one brother, Fred, Lowden; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents and a brother.
