April 7, 1893 - Clarence Sun

The remains of Mrs. Sarah Hancock who died at the poor farm at Tipton last week, were brought to Clarence last Saturday for interment in the Clarence cemetery.

Mrs. Hancock, with her husband, were old residents of this vicinity, having come to this county when it was new. By industry they were enabled to accumulate some property and at one time were the owners of a fine farm near Clarence, a few years ago they came to the city to live, and through misfortune lost all their property. About two years ago Mrs. Hancock was left a widow by the demise of her husband, and one year later became an inmate of the county poor house at Tipton, where death occurred last week. These people, though misfortune was inflicted upon them, were highly respected not only by the citizens of this place, but by the best people of the community generally.
