Charles Cecil Hartley, 67, died Jan. 2 at his residence at Lone Tree, where he had lived the past 3 years. He formerly farmed near Tipton.
Funeral services wee held in Wilton Junction Jan. 5 with the Rev. Robert Farr of the Wilton Junction Methodist church officiating.
Interment was at Memorial Park cemetery at Muscatine.
Mr. Hartley died after a lengthy illness. He was born in Winfield, W. Va., June 7, 1895, a son of Charles and Abigail William Hartley.
He married Rouie Sayre at Tipton July 19, 1916.
Surviving are his wife, his father, Charles E. Hartley, both of Lone Tree; 3 brothers, Lewis and John, Clinton and Woodrow of Daneeville, Ga.; 3 sisters, Mrs. Robert Bolton, Tipton; Mrs. Gus Lamb, Cedar Falls, and Mrs. Raymond York, Warren, Ohio; 4 sons, Alfred and Roland, Wilton Junction and Charles and Luther, Lone Tree; 2 daughters, Mrs. Joe (Hildreth) Kaufmann, Wilton Junction and Mrs. Donald (Jane) Luettjohann, Tipton; 27 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, 2 sisters, 2 brothers and a son.
