Mrs. Marie Ottesen, 84, former West Branch resident, died in Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, Jan. 7, following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Bethany Lutheran church at West Branch with the Rev. William Thallacker officiating. Burial will be in the West Branch cemetery.

Mrs. Ottesen was born in Norresundby, Denmark, June 29, 1878, the daughter of Ann and Peter Jensen. She was married in 1906 to Niels Ottesen in Denmark.

After coming to America, they farmed in the West Branch area. She moved to Cedar Rapids after his death in 1928 and made her home with her daughter, Carla Ottesen.

She is survived by her daughter and several nieces and nephews.
