Funeral services for Emma Gehrls, 61, who died at 4 a.m. Jan. 4 at her home in Lowden after a 7 months illness were held Jan. 7 in Zion United Church of Christ, Lowden, with the Rev. Edwin Otte officiating.

Mrs. Lane Strackbein was the organist and accompanied the ladies quartet. Burial was in the Lowden cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Ruprecht, Fred Wiebel, Albert Esbaum, William Mensing, Richard Wenndt and Ray Licht.

Martha Ohlrogge and Mrs. Herb Kruckenberg had charge of the flowers.

Emma Gehrls was born Feb. 9, 1901, west of Lowden, the daughter of the late William and Anna Woebking Gehrls. She received her education in rural schools and moved into Lowden with her parents in 1917. She was a life member of Zion United Church of Christ in which she taught Sunday school for 20 years. Up to the time of her recent illness she served as superintendent of the church Cradle roll.

Survivors are her sister, Martha, with whom she made her home, one uncle and two aunts. She was preceded in death by her parents.
