Funeral services for Louis Ernst Morningstar, 86, retired Mechanicsville farmer, were held Dec. 29 at the Sheets and Dahn Funeral home with the Rev. A. C. Long in charge. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were 8 grandsons, George Heick Jr., Leland and Paul Heick, Carrol and Richard Blake, Loyd Jacobs and Dennis Rhoads. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Luikart and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Conway were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Morningstar died Dec. 27 at his home in Mechanicsville.

The son of Jacob and Amelia Berg Morningstar, he was born July 10, 1876 in Washington county, Ohio and received his education in the rural schools of Ohio. He was married to Eva Jane Brabham March 4, 1900. Mrs. Morningstar died Nov. 4, 1919.

A farmer, he retired in 1948 and moved to Mechanicsville.

He is survived by a son, Ray, Mechanicsville; 4 daughters, Mrs. Roy (Edna) Jacobs, Bridgeport, Ill.; Mrs. Harry (Bertha) Steffensen, Manly; Mrs. George (Thelma) Heick, Tipton; Mrs. Earl (Gladys) Blake, Mechanicsville; 2 brothers, Clarence, Lisbon and Charles, Lehigh Acres, Fla.

Also 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 step-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 2 daughters and a son who died in infancy, a daughter, Mrs. Daisy Freed; 2 brothers, Dan and John; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Matthews, and a grandson.
