Francis J. Ingman, 56, of Iowa City, died at 1:35 p.m. Dec. 5 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City, following a long illness.

Mr. Ingman was born July 19, 1905, in Tipton, the son of William S. and Dorothy Spence Ingman. He graduated from the Tipton high school, he attended the University of Iowa and was a writer by profession.

He was married Dec. 11, 1935, to Becky Bevins at Monmouth, Ill. The couple resided at Guttenberg for 16 years, moving to Iowa City in 1951 and residing there since.

During his early years, Mr. Ingman was active in Boy Scout work, and he later became an assistant scoutmaster. He was affiliated with Acacia fraternity; Scabbard and Blade honorary military society; Order of Demolay; Cedar Lodge No. 11, A.F. and A. M., at Tipton and the Iowa Chapter of Scottish Rite and El Kahir shrine at Cedar Rapids.

He is survived by his widow, several aunts and a number of cousins.

The funeral was held Dec. 7 with the Rev. John G. Craig of the First Congregational church officiating. A complete Masonic service was held and cremation followed.
