Oscar E. Knouse, 79, Wilton Junction, died July 22 at the Mercy hospital, Iowa City, after a lengthy illness.

Born July 11, 1882, in Wilton Junction, the son of John and Mary Murrison Knouse, he was a lifetime resident of Wilton.

On Sept. 6, 1911, he married Ruth Baker in Muscatine. Mr. Knouse was a retired machinist.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth, Wilton Junction; 4 sons, John M. Knouse, Akeley, Minn., Raymond E. Knouse, Tipton; Melford G. Knouse, Pennsacola, Fla., and Merrill D. Knouse, Wilton Junction; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Grace) Means, Davenport; a brother, Howard E. Knouse, LaVerne, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, 2 brothers, and a sister.

Funeral services were held July 25 at Wilton Junction with the Rev. Paul Boaz officiating. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery.
