June 29, 1961 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Mrs. Effie May Whitmer Dice, 85, were held at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home July 5, with Gordon Smith officiating. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery at Tipton.

Mrs. Phyllis Willer was vocalist, with Mrs. Dave Cline and Mrs. Kenneth Jordan in charge of flowers. Pallbearers were William Nerad, Calvin Moore, Frank Norris, Harold Wentzel, Charles Ennes and James Vitense.

Mrs. Dice died July 2 at her home in Tipton after an illness of 7 years.

The daughter of Josiah and Mary Jane Ochiltree Whitmer, she was born in Cedar county Nov. 12, 1875. She attended the White Pigeon school and was married to Charles Dice in Tipton Nov. 24, 1894. They lived in the Tipton community all their married lives, Mr. Dice preceding her in death in 1957. They had celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary in 1944 and were married nearly 63 years.

She is survived by her son, Dr. G. K. Dice, with whom she made her home, a grandson, Dr. Guy Dice, Jr., Bettendorf, 3 great-grandchildren, a foster daughter, Mrs. Raymond Vitense and a sister, Mrs. Lettie Straub, Cedar Rapids.
