Ralph E. Owen, 72, retired farmer, died at his home in Tipton Sunday, May 28. He had been in ill health for some time.

Funeral services were held May 30 at the Tipton Methodist church, with the Rev. A. C. Long in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Norman Stevenson, Norman Dauber, Marvin McCroskey, Austin Ford, Herman Albert and R. R. Werling. Mrs. C. C. Crawford was organist. The Dye Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

The son of Josiah and Mary Welty Owen, he was born June 24, 1888 on a farm near Tipton. He was married to Blanche Reeve in Tipton Jan. 30, 1913.

Mr. Owen lived his entire life in the Tipton community, including 43 years on a farm east of Tipton. He moved to his present home in Tipton 3 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Melvin, West Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Max (Ruth) Nebergall, Tipton, 4 grandchildren, LuAnne and Brent Owen, West Des Moines and Lynette Lee and Owen Nebergall, Tipton, and a sister, Mrs. Ada Chapman, Tipton.

He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Alice and Mrs. France Reeve and 2 brothers, Frank and Fred.
