Services were held May 29 at the Methodist church in Clarence for Mrs. Myrtle Bixler, 78, a life-long resident of Clarence.

Survivors include a son, Merle, Clarence; a daughter, Mrs. Carroll Center, Cedar Rapids; a brother, Grant Hegarty, Tipton; 2 sisters, Jessie Hegarty, Tipton, and Belle Schultz, Burk, S.D.; 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Myrtle Mabel Bixler was born Sept. 27, 1882 to Robert and Martha Jane Hegarty. She died at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids May 26, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 29 days.

Services were held at the Clarence Methodist church May 29 with the Rev. Cyril Ashton officiating. Pallbearers were Wayne Saunders, Randolph Kastler, Wilfred Liercke, Kenneth Morehead, Robert Kelly and Willard Russell.

She was born in the Harmony Point Community near Clarence and received her education there and in Clarence.

She was united in marriage to Ray Bixler Feb. 14, 1905, who preceded her in death in 1941.

She is survived by 2 children, Merle, Clarence, and Mrs. Caroll (Leona) Center, Cedar Rapids.

Two brothers and 3 sisters preceded her in death. One brother, Grant Hegarty, Tipton and 2 sisters, Jessie Hegarty, Tipton and Belle Schulz, Burk, S. D.; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild survive.

At an early age, she joined the church at Harmony Point from which she transferred her membership to the Methodist church at Clarence in 1906.
