Jacob L. Thumma, 73, died early April 3 of a heart attack at his home at West Branch.
Born June 5, 1887, in Carlisle, Pa., he was the son of William and Laura Mentzer Thumma. He had been a resident of West Branch since 1922. He farmed near Cedar Valley until 1943, when he retired and moved into town.
Mr. Thumma married Ethel Burkholder Dec. 15, 1910, in Carlisle. He was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel; 3 sisters, Mrs. Anna Gillaiegh, Mrs. Nettie Waggoner, and Mrs. Myrl Bretz, Carlisle, Pa.; 3 daughters, Mrs. Martha Paulson, West Branch, Mrs. Fern Stubbs, Dorchester, Wis., and Mrs. Evelyn Mitchell; a brother, Clarence Thumma, Camp Hill, Pa.; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Funeral services were April 5 at the Methodist church at West Branch. Rev. Robert Engle officiated. Burial was at the West Branch cemetery.
