Earl C. Branson, 82, a retired railway mail clerk, died suddenly at his home in West Branch March 30 after suffering a heart attack.

Mr. Branson was born April 8, 1878, at West Branch, the son of Joseph and Louisa Eaton Branson. He married Hazel A. Erb at West Branch Aug. 17, 1935.

He was a member of the West Branch Methodist church. He entered government mail service in 1904 on the Chicago and North Western railroad. He retired in 1938.

Survivors include his widow, a sister, Mrs. H. C. Gruwell, of Pasadena, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Funeral services were April 2 at the West Branch Methodist church, with the Rev. L. E. Bauman, former pastor, officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.
