George Roehlk, 84, retired farmer, died at 5:20 a.m. March 5 at his home here after a lingering illness. Mr. Roehlk was a former Durant mayor and councilman and former member of the Cedar county board of supervisors.

He was appointed supervisor April 5, 1938 and served until June 3, 1938.

Born Dec. 30, 1876, in Cedar county, he was the son of Hans and Bertha Roehlk. He married Annie M. Mecklenburg Feb. 13, 1902, at Davenport. The couple farmed near Bennett until retiring in 1927 when they moved to Durant.

Survivors include his wife, 4 sons, Harvey, Davenport; Harold A. and Waldo E., Durant, and Edward E., New Liberty; 3 brothers, Henry, Holstein; Edward, Cedar Rapids and John, Des Moines; 2 sisters, Mrs. Annie Goettsch, Canby, Minn., and Mrs. Meta Cook, Davenport; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother and one son.

Funeral services were March 8 at Durant. Burial was at the Durant cemetery.
