Berthal E. Timmons, a former resident of the West Branch area, died Feb. 24 at a hospital at Centralia, Ill.

He was born Sept. 5, 1897, near West Branch, the son of Richard and Patricia Harls Timmons. He married the former Mary Miller in Iowa City, and she preceded him in death.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Betty Gennery, Oil City, Pa., and Mrs. Beth Colmes, Chelsea, Mass.; a son, Cecil, Cheyenne, Wyo.; 4 brothers and 3 sisters, all in the Centralia area.

Funeral services were Feb. 21 at the Friends church in West Branch, with the Rev. Clifford Wolfe officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.
