Funeral services for S. Roscoe Winter, 78, were held at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home Feb. 19 with the Rev. Robert Yoder of Kalona in charge. Burial was in the Clarence cemetery. Pallbearers were Arthur Fisher, Walter Lafrenz, Harry Dodds, Lee McQuillen, Darrell Dircks and Lorence Thien.

Mr. Winter died Feb. 17 at a Tipton nursing home.

The son of Samuel and Lena Robinson Winter, he was born March 15, 1883 on a farm near Lowden. He was educated in the schools of Cedar county and graduated from Clinton Business college.

His earlier life was spent in Nebraska and Wyoming territory as an employee of the Union Pacific railroad. He worked for the railroad until his retirement, when he came to Tipton to make his home with his parents. After his mother's death in 1953 he moved to Davenport where he lived until early this month when he was brought to Tipton.

He is survived by 2 brothers, A. L., LeClaire and Frank W., Tipton, 5 nephews and a niece.
