Mrs. LaVerna Platteter, 46, of near West Branch died Dec. 21 at her home after an extended illness.

Mrs. Platteter was born July 18, 1914, at Abbotsford, Wis., the daughter of Louis and Elsie Schmidt Mitzlaff. She was married to Reuben Platteter at Dorchester, Wis., Sept. 4, 1937, and they came to the West Branch area in 1949.

Mrs. Platteter was a member of the West Branch Methodist church, the Martha circle and the T.P.M. club.

Survivors include the husband; 2 sons, Roger and Bruce, both at home; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Adeline Nolte, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Geraldine Gibert, Stetsonville, Wis.; and Mrs. Beatrice Jensen, Colby, Wis. Mrs. Platteter's parents preceded her in death.

Funeral services were Dec. 24 at the West Branch Methodist church with the Rev. L. E. Bauman officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Iowa City.
