Mary L. West, 55, anesthetist at Mercy hospital in Iowa City for the last 12 years, and a hospital employe since her graduation from the school of nursing there in 1933, died of a heart attack at her home in West Branch Jan. 8.

Miss West was born Dec. 18, 1905, at Paris, Mo., the daughter of James P. and Roberta Donaldson West. She was graduated from West Branch high school.

She was a member of Rebekah lodge 416 in Iowa City, the Eastern Star, the White Shrine and the Friends church at West Branch.

Survivors include 4 brothers, Marvin West, Cedar Rapids; John West, Iowa City; and Raymond and Harry West, West Branch; 3 sisters, Mrs. Roberta Vincent, West Branch; Mrs. Clara Belle Foster, Bakersfield, Calif.; and Mrs. Ardell Smith, Iowa City; and 9 nieces and nephews.

Miss West was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister.

Funeral services were Jan. 11 at the Friends church in West Branch, with the Rev. Clifford Wolfe officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.
