Mrs. Charlotte Barewald, 88, died at 10 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Wilton Nursing Home in Wilton Junction after suffering a stroke in October.

The daughter of Peter J. and Wilhelmina Wacker, she was born Dec. 17, 1871, at Wilton Junction.

Mr. and Mrs. Barewald moved to Tipton in 1901. He operated a harness shop where Western Auto is now located. She was a resident of Tipton for nearly 60 years.

Mrs. Barewald was married to Albert Barewald Aug. 8, 1895, at Wilton Junction. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church at Stanwood.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Lillian) Griffin, Davenport; a sister, Mrs. William Brammeier, Fairmont, Minn.; 2 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Louis, 7 brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were Nov. 13 at Zion Lutheran church in Wilton Junction with Rev. Muhl of St. Paul's Lutheran church at Stanwood officiating. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery, Wilton Junction.

Casket bearers were Henry Klindt, Leonard Lawlor, Harold Wacker, Ernest Brammeier, Ed Hodler and Clarence Kuhn. Mamie Jipp and Mrs. Freda Wagner were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Arthur Petersen was soloist and Herbert L. Waech, organist.
