11 August 1960 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Virgil C. Cole, 60, were held at the Foursquare Gospel church in Tipton Aug. 6, with the Rev. Robert E. Stogsdill in charge. Music was by the Rev. Edgerton Nix, Mrs. Stogsdill, Mrs. Winnie Mills with Mrs. Nix pianist.

Pallbearers were Eugene Kessler, David Ferguson, Willard Light, Charles Hubler, Elmer Briggs and Nathan Carr. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery at Mechanicsville.

Cole died in University hospital at Iowa City Aug. 4 after he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage while driving from Tipton to this home in Lisbon.

The son of Harry A. and Emma Conner Cole, he was born at Mechanicsville April 25, 1900. He was the eldest of 3 children. He was married to Frances Satterfield at English, Ind., Aug. 22, 1927.

He had been a member of the Foursquare church for 2 years.

He is survived by his wife and 6 children, Mrs. Mary Beaucamp, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Virginia Laing, Tipton; Harry, Lisbon; Mrs. Patricia Unruh, Lisbon and Donna and Cindy at home; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Henderson, Center Point and eight grandchildren.

His parents and a brother, Lucian, preceded him in death.
