William Thomson, 77, retired Stanwood farmer and Cedar county supervisor for 13 years, died shortly before noon Wednesday at his home in Stanwood. He had been seriously ill for several months.

Services for Thomson will be held at the United Presbyterian church in Stanwood at 2 p.m. Friday. His body is at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home.

Thomson, who farmed two miles south of Stanwood for many years, served as Cedar county supervisor from Jan. 1, 1940, until Jan. 1, 1953.

In addition to his wife he is survived by six sons, Estel, Kanawha; Everett, Davenport; Richard, Tipton; George, Cedar Rapids, and Charles and Edwin of Stanwood, and three daughters, Mrs. Elloiuse Negus, Muscatine; Mrs. Evelyn Blaney, Anamosa, and Mrs. Emma Lou Smith, San Diego, Calif.
