Mrs. R. A. Smith, 74, died Sept. 16 at her home in Mechanicsville, following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Sept. 18 at the Presbyterian church with the Rev. George Gallaher officiating. Burial was in Rosehill cemetery.

The daughter of Leonard and Vesta Hines, she was born in Cedar county Sept. 15, 1882. In 1909 she was married to Robert A. Smith. The couple lived on a farm southeast of Mechanicsville for a number of years. In 1924 they moved to Mitchell, S.D., where Mr. Smith was in business. They returned to Mechanicsville in 1929.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Buell Pieper, Mechanicsville, and Mrs. Donald Kramer, Cedar Rapids, and four grandchildren, Robbie Pieper and Donna, David and Charles Kramer.
