5 June 1891 - Clarence Sun

Mrs. Mary L. Wilkins, wife of Samuel C. Wilkins, died May 30th, 1891, after an illness of several months. Her maiden name was Hollenbeck. She was born in Freeport, Ills., and at the time of her death was 47 years old, she was married to Mr. Wilkins in 1868. For many years they have lived on the farm near Stanwood, where by industry and economy they had secured for themselves a comfortable and beautiful home. The bereaved husband and the children Alice Jay and Ray will sadly miss her in that home. She was a devoted wife and mother, yes, they will miss her, and often in the coming years as in memory she comes back to them they will "Long for the touch of a vanished hand and the sound of a voice that is still". The funeral services at the family residence were conducted by Rev. Truesdale, of Stanwood, and were largely attended by sympathizing friends and neighbors. She was buried in the beautiful cemetery at Clarence.
