John E. Fry, 68, died Friday at his home in Mechanicsville, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Presbyterian church with the Rev. George Gallaher officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. Fry was born April 19, 1882, the son of Fred and Minnie Sievers Fry. Jan. 28, 1914, he was married to Mary E. Platner. They spent the greater part of their married life on the farm where he was born north of Mechanicsville. They moved to Mechanicsville in 1941.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Vinton Elliott and Mrs. Oliver Dill, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Roy Williams, Olin, and two nephews, Dr. L. B. Williams, Maquoketa, and Donald Dill, Chicago.
