Funeral services for Leo Thimmes, 69, were held Sept. 5 at the Methodist church in Mechanicsville with the Rev. Eugene Miller in charge. He died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Sept. 2.

Mr. Thimmes was born April 13, 1887, on a farm near Iowa City, the son of John and Jane Thimmes. Later the family moved to a farm northwest of Mechanicsville.

He farmed the family farm until his retirement.

He was married in 1911 to Maggie Milligan who survives, along with five children: Mrs. Elmer Bixler, Olin; Forrest, Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs. Sherill Baker, Oxford Junction, and Paul and Merle at home, four grandchildren and three brothers, George, Tony and Will, all of Mechanicsville.
