Julius N. Wiese, 81, retired Cedar county farmer, died at St. Luke's hospital, Davenport, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. He had been ill for a month.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Runge chapel in Davenport. Burial will be at Inland cemetery, near Bennett.

Wiese was born near Eldridge, Dec. 27, 1874, and was educated in the rural schools of Scott county. He was married to Anna Bruhn of Davenport, Feb. 18, 1903. The couple celebrated their golden wedding in 1953.

From 1903 to 1938 they farmed in the Bennett area, moving to Davenport when they retired from the farm.

Wiese was prominent in farm and civic activities. He was a president of the Cedar county Farm Bureau, was the first president of the Bennett Farmer's Fire association, a member of the Cedar county A.A.A. and a member of the Cedar county fair board.

He also served as treasurer for the Inland cemetery association for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. John Dexter, Davenport; four sons, Arnold, Wilton Junction; LeRoy and Delbert, Bennett, and Erwin, Pleasant Valley; fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He is also survived by a brother, Rudolph, Long Beach, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Arp, Davenport. He was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.
