16 August 1956 - The Tipton Conservative

Graveside services for Norma Ann Kruse, 51, were held Saturday at the Walcott cemetery with the Rev. Lamont C. Smith officiating. Miss Kruse, a Walcott school teacher, took her life Aug. 4. A memorial fund has been started for the Methodist church in Bennett in her memory.

Her body was identified Aug. 9 after her car was found at the Rogers farm west of the Rochester cemetery. There were several suicide notes in the car.

No inquest was called by E. J. Wilson, acting Cedar county coroner.

Miss Kruse's body was taken from the Cedar river Aug. 6 and was not identified until four days later. She was seen on highway 1 during the evening of Aug 4 and apparently took her life that night.

She was born Oct. 16, 1904 on a farm near Bennett and had been a teacher in the rural schools of Cedar county and this area for many years. Last year she taught in the Walcott schools.

She had been a resident of Bennett for 32 years.

She is survived by two brothers, Ed, Tipton, and Henry, Davenport.
