Mrs. Hilda Allen, 69, former West Branch resident, died Dec. 19 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Hermione Baker, in Long Beach, Calif. She had made her home with her daughter for the past year.

Mrs. Allen was born in West Branch July 1, 1887, the daughter of Sewell and Emma Hill Ellyson. She was graduated from the West Branch school in 1905 and from the University of Iowa in 1910.

After two years of teaching at Osage she was married to George E. Allen of Nevada, June 12, 1912. The couple lived at Mitchell, S.D., and Moville, before moving to Onawa in 1915.

Survivors include her daughter; two sons, Sewell, of Onawa, and Philip, of Omaha, Nebr.; seven grandchildren, and two brothers, Chester Ellyson, Iowa City, and Austin I. Ellyson, West Branch. Her husband preceded her in death.
