Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Goettsch, 84, of Blue Grass were held Tuesday in Davenport. Burial was in Inland cemetery near Bennett. Mrs. Goettsch died at 3:20 p.m. Saturday in a Davenport hospital following a five month illness.

The former Mary Benedix was born Aug. 26, 1871, in Rock Island, Ill. Sept. 19, 1889, she was married to Ferdinand Goettsch in Woodbury county. The couple farmed near Bennett for many years. Mr. Goettsch died in 1939.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Fred Von Roden of Blue Grass, and Mrs. Christine Gust of Durant; two sons, Lorenz and Ferdinand, both of Bennett; six sisters, Mrs. Lena Hinkhouse, Mrs. Dora Flamme, Mrs. Charles Seitel and Mrs. Carl Petersen, all of Pierson, Mrs. Elsie Hoppe of Omaha, Nebr., and Mrs. Ed Mann of Hartley; two brothers, Fred Benedix of Correctionville, and Henry of Waverly, six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
