Mrs. Warren Werling, 37, of Mt. Vernon, died at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids Saturday of pneumonia, following influenza. Mrs. Werling's was one of two death in this area from the effects of influenza. The other was Ronald Murdock, 14, who lived south of Wilton Junction.

Mrs. Werling, the former June Muirhead of Tipton, became ill while caring for her children who were ill with the flu. Pneumonia followed.

June, daughter of Mrs. Lillian Muirhead and the late William C. Muirhead, was born in Joliet, Ill., Dec. 27, 1920. She graduated from Tipton high school in 1938 and was valedictorian of her class and a member of the National Honor Society.

She was employed by the Tipton State Bank following her graduation, becoming assistant cashier. In April, 1943, she joined the Marines and served for two and a half years in California, leaving service with the rank of sergeant.

She was married to Warren Werling April 19, 1946. She is survived by her husband, four children, Jack, 9; Jill, 6; Joseph, 4 and Jeffrey, 2; her mother and three sisters, Mrs. Dale (Lois) Warmuth, Mechanicsville; Mrs. George (Marian) Thordsen, Tipton and Mrs. Harlan (Norma) Siemsen, Bennett.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian church with burial in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.
