James P. West, 88, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Vincent, in West Liberty, early Sunday morning, Oct. 13. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Friends church, conducted by the Rev. Clifford Wolfe, with burial in the West Branch cemetery.

He was the son of Jack and Keziah Wilcox West and was born at Holliday, Mo., Jan 28, 1869. He was married to Roberta Jane Donnelson at Paris, Mo., March 5, 1902, and came to West Branch to live. He was for many years engaged in draying. Mrs. West died April 5, 1944.

He was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers, his wife, a son and a daughter. Surviving are eight children, Marvin, Cedar Rapids; John, Iowa City; Mary, Raymond and Harry, West Branch; Mrs. Robert Vincent, West Liberty; Mrs. Clarabelle Foster, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Idelle R. Smith, Iowa City; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
