Funeral services for John Nielsen, 69, who died at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday at his home in Durant after a brief illness, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Durant Chapel. Burial will be in the Durant cemetery.

Nielsen was born Jan. 28, 1888, in Cedar county. He attended rural schools. Feb. 12, 1919, he married Lena Best in Davenport. The couple farmed three miles south of Stockton until their retirement in 1949 when they moved to Durant.

He was a member of Knights lodge 265, at Durant.
