Funeral services were held in St. Mary's Catholic church at Mechanicsville Sept. 4 for Alex Crock, 72, who died at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, Sept. 1.

The Rev. P. J. Casey, pastor, offered the requiem high mass, and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Alexander Joseph Crock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Casper Crock, was born Jan. 20, 1885, at Hertisville, Ohio. He attended schools in Woodsfield and came to Mechanicsville in 1906. He married the former Susie Dougherty Oct. 26, 1916, in Mechanicsville, and the couple farmed near West Branch until returning to Mechanicsville about 1947.

He was taken ill about a month ago, and had surgery Aug. 16 at the Cedar Rapids hospital where he died.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Mary) Maher, Mechanicsville; two granddaughters, Janet and Pamela Maher; three brothers, Peter C., Mechanicsville, Wooster, Ohio, and Greg, Woodsfield, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Ulrick and Mrs. Justina Kuhn, Lewisville, Ohio; and a half-sister, Mrs. Letha Schattat, Wheeling Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his wife May 14, 1957.
