W. E. Hutchison, 67, retired Tipton druggist, died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday in a Newton hospital of injuries received in a two-car accident near Newton.

Hutchison received head and internal injuries in the crash which occurred at the intersection of a gravel road six miles west and four miles north of the Jasper county seat.

Funeral services for Hutchison will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Methodist church. Burial will be at Truro. The Peterseim & Dye funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hutchison received a broken left ankle in the accident, although the full extent of her injuries are not known. Her ankle has been placed in a cast.

The Hutchisons went to Colfax early Monday morning where he was to work for two weeks at the Taylor drug store as a "replacement" pharmacist.

Mr. and Mrs. Hutchison were riding with Taylor and his son when the crash occurred Tuesday evening.

Taylor and a son, 9, were injured in the crash, but not seriously.

Jasper county sheriff Ed Scoville said a car driven by Colin Dodd, 21, Colfax, and Taylor's car collided. Dodd received sever cuts and a knee injury.

Hutchison operated a drug store in Tipton for 20 years before selling to Robert DeKock Jan. 1, 1955. A veteran of World War I, he spent four years in Ottumwa and 12 in Clinton before coming to Tipton.

Since the sale of his drug store, Hutchison had been working for other druggists while they were on vacation.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Robert, Brookfield, Ill., and three grandchildren.
