Funeral services for Joseph Randa, 70, were held Wednesday at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home in Tipton with the Rev. A. C. Long officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Military services were also conducted by the Tipton American Legion post. Pallbearers were members of the Tipton American Legion: George Thordsen, Wesley Marquett, Richard Moon Jr., Ray Crock Jr., Herbert Ford and Raymond Spencer.

Joseph Randa was born Dec. 4, 1886 in Cedar Rapids, one of five children born to Fred and Barbara Randa.

He died in the Veterans hospital at Iowa City after a lingering illness of about seven weeks.

He spent his youth in Cedar Rapids and came to Tipton approximately 40 years ago. He and his brother Milo operated a butcher shop in Tipton for many years. He was a member of the Tipton American Legion post, having served overseas in World War I.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and 2 brothers. Randa is survived by a sister, Mrs. Addie Bishton, Cedar Rapids, and a brother, Milo, Tipton.
