Max Busch, 53, who resided four-and-a-half miles northwest of Durant, died in Mercy hospital at Iowa City at 12:10 a.m. Monday, after an extended illness.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Durant chapel. Burial will be in Durant cemetery.

Born Dec. 10, 1903, in Germany, he came to America and Durant at age 18 and married Ruby Ruhser, Feb. 1, 1933, in Durant. He was employed by Cedar county eight years as road maintainer, after which the couple engaged in farming south of Durant until moving to the present home eight months ago.

Surviving are the wife; a son, William, Iowa City; five sisters, Mrs. Peter Schorr, Stockton; Mrs. Clara Miller, Mrs. John Sohsen, and Mrs. William Maas, all of Davenport, and Mrs. Minnie Heldt, Algona; two sisters and two brothers in Germany.
