Funeral services for J. J. (Jim) Jicha, 76, were held Monday in Tipton with the Rev. Arthur Stratemeyer in charge. Burial was in Woodbridge cemetery near Buchanan. Mr. Jicha died at his home in Buchanan Nov. 21.

James Joseph Jicha, son of Joseph and Katherine Janda Jicha was born in Klatovy, Czechoslovakia, Nov. 12, 1883.

At the age of 13 "Jim" as he was known, came to this country and settled near Solon, where he attended a rural school and worked as a farm hand.

On Feb. 14, 1912 he was united in marriage to Julia Kadera at Iowa City. To this union one daughter, Lillyan was born.

He farmed 2 years near Solon. Then he moved to the Tipton community where he located on a farm west of Tipton. Here he farmed until 1947. Then he retired and moved to Buchanan.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, one brother and 4 sisters.

He is survived by his wife Julia, his daughter and son-in-law, Lillyan and Earl Tenley, his granddaughter, Carol Jean Tenley, one sister living in Czechoslovakia and several nieces and nephews.
