Melvin S. Carr of Mechanicsville, who died Oct. 27, was born May 19, 1883, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kinsey Carr of Oxford Mills. He spent most of his life in the Mechanicsville area, except for a few years in South Dakota.
He was married to Alta Iona Lahmon May 16, 1905. She preceded him in death in June, 1929. They were the parents of 5 children, Sylvia, who died in June, 1923; Mrs. Ruth (Wretha) Clippinger; Mrs. Edwin (Hazel) Blake and 2 sons, Harold and John.
He was married to Josephine Lisk Jan. 16, 1934. He is survived by his children, a foster son, Jimmy, 6 grandchildren and a brother and a sister.
Pallbearers were Lloyd Wood, Ben Schroeder, Elwood Rhoads, Harry West, Stanley Becker and Charles Achenbach.
