Funeral services were held Nov. 16 at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Stanwood for Henry C. Portewig, 52, who died Nov. 13 in the home here in which he was born. The Rev. R. G. Muhl officiated. Burial was in Stanwood cemetery.

Pallbearers were Forest Tenley, Frank Klinkkammer, Fred W. Meyer, Glenn Zerbe, Ernest Wendt and Gus Holm. Mrs. Frank Klinkkammer and Mrs. Gus Holm were in charge of flowers. Music was by St. Paul's Men chorus, directed by Emil Licht.

Henry Carl Portewig, son of Louis and Rose Portewig, was born July 18, 1907 in Stanwood. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. Here he was married to Augusta Willert on Feb. 21,1930 in St. Paul's Lutheran church.

To this marriage were born two children, one daughter dying in infancy. Mr. Portewig was secretary and treasurer of the Stanwood branch of the Aid Association for Lutherans for 25 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church all his life, serving on the Church council as a member of the finance committee for many years.

Mr. Portewig became ill Nov. 11 and received treatment and the next afternoon he was stricken with a heart attack.

His father, a sister, Lena, a brother, Carl, and a daughter preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Roberta Kadec, Cedar Rapids; his mother, Mrs. Rose Portewig; 2 brothers, Paul, Stanwood and Ernest, Monticello; and one granddaughter.
