Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Hess, 88, were held Oct. 26 at the Rochester Methodist church. The Rev. Matthew Leach officiated. Burial was in the Rochester cemetery.
Mrs. Hess died Oct. 23 at the Hawker Nursing home in West Liberty. She was born in Rock Island County, Ill. in 1871 and moved to Rochester as a child. She spent most of her life in the Rochester community.

Mrs. Elizabeth Hess, who died Oct. 23 at the age of 88, was the daughter of Ralph and Jane Atkinson. She was born June 14, 1871 at Coal Valley, Ill.
She was married to Price Anderson in Rochester May 4, 1888. Mr. Anderson died in 1907. She was married to Harrison Hess in 1917. Mr. and Mrs. Hess lived at West Liberty until 1948 when they moved to Rochester.
Mrs. Hess was a member of the Eastern Star and the Rebecca lodge at West Liberty. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and a past president of the Rochester Ladies Aid and the W.S.C.S. of which she was an honorary member.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Alice Shuler, Des Moines; a step-sister, Mrs. Lizzie Baker, Rock Island, Ill. and several nieces and nephews.
