Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Walenta Wentzel, 71, were held Monday with the Rev. A. C. Long in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Casketbearers were Maynard Herring, Vernon Kimberling, Carl Kern, Donald Hegarty, Clyde Williams, and Lee Miller. Mrs. John Swift was vocalist, accompanied by Mrs. Earl Escher. Assisting with flowers were Mrs. Helen McGee and Mrs. Flowery Smith.

Mrs. Wentzel died at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids May 22 of a coronary heart condition. Her death was unexpected.

She was born near Prague, Czechoslovakia of Bohemian parents Aug. 28, 1887,. and came to the United States with her mother when she was 5. She spent most of her life in Cedar county in the Tipton area.

She was married to Wilbur W. Wentzel March 2, 1910, at Marion. They farmed in Cedar county until 1948 when they moved to Tipton.

Her husband died in 1952.

She is survived by a son, Harold, Tipton; a daughter, Mrs. Mearl (Bernice) Crist, Stanwood; 3 grandchildren, Marcia Kay and Bruce Wentzel and Janese DeAnn Crist; 5 sisters, Mrs. Lucy Safley, Mrs. Margaret Highly and Mrs. Sophia Galbraith, all of Tipton, Mrs. Emma Irvin, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Edna Armstrong, Cedar Rapids; 2 brothers, John Walenta, West Branch, and Frank Walenta, Kearney, Nebr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
