6 August 1959 - The Tipton Conservative

Dennis Belitz, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Belitz, was instantly killed about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when the tractor he was operating tipped over backward on him, crushing him.

The accident took place on the Belitz farm, 3 miles northeast of Bennett when the boy was working in a field.

Dennis William Belitz, son of Mr. Fred Belitz and his wife, Dorothea Seebeck Belitz, was born December 11, 1944, at Davenport, Iowa.

He was baptized in the Name of the Triune God on the 24th day of the same month, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Bennett.

Dennis resided all his life on a farm, 2 miles north and 1 1/2 miles west of Bennett, and attended the Bennett Community school where he was graduated from the 8th grade last May.

He received a Christian education and training in his home and church and on Palm Sunday of this ;year he was received into communicant membership with the Missouri Synod Lutheran church of Bennett by the rite of Confirmation, and was a diligent attendant at the church services, the Lord's Supper, Bible class and the Walther League society meetings.

On Wednesday afternoon, August 5, about 3:30 o'clock, he met with a tractor mishap by which he was abruptly summoned out of this temporal life into eternity, at the age of 14 years, 7 months and 25 days.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church at Bennett, on Saturday, August 8, at 2 p.m. The service was conducted by the Rev. E. Beckmann.

Mrs. Harold Wacker, Sr. of Wilton Junction was the organist. Mrs. Larry Wuestenberg of Bennett was soloist.

The pallbearers were members of his eighth grade class of Bennett. They were as follows: Gary Kelding, Lon Bachus, Kenneth Motz, Arnold Waller, David Wiese, Dean Riedesel.

The flower girls were members of his confirmation class and were: Barbara Burhop and Joanne Hein.

Interment was made at the Inland cemetery at Bennett.

Dennis is survived by his parents; one brother, Larry; the paternal grandfather, Mr. William Belitz who is residing with the family, and the maternal grandfather, Mr. William Seebeck, Tipton; the following uncles and aunts: Mr. and Mrs. Norman Belitz, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Belitz, of Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. William Belitz, Jr.,Tulsa, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. William Kirch, Ponca City, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Emil Seebeck and Mr. and Mr. Walter Seebeck, Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Seebeck, West Branch, and many other relatives and friends.
