Carl J. Larsen, 65, a retired painter and resident of West Liberty for 30 years, died Feb. 7 at Veterans hospital, Iowa City, where he had been a patient for 2 months.

Born Feb. 8, 1893, at West Branch, he was a son of Chris and Sena Petersen Larsen. He was married to the former Nettie Olga Sorensen Oct. 30, 1919, in West Branch.

Mr. Larsen was a member of the Lutheran church and the American Legion. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his widow, 2 sons, Harold and Lester, both of West Liberty, and a step-daughter, Mrs. R. B. Seymour, Los Angeles, Calif., 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are a brother, Einer Larsen, West Branch, and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Sharp, Portland, Ore.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Bethany Lutheran church, West Branch, with the Rev. L. A. Kirkegaard, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.
