Funeral services for Roy D. Stoffel,82, were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church, Mechanicsville, with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. Stoffel died suddenly Feb. 5 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alberta Krumroy.

The son of Henry and Louisa Stoffel, he was born March 23, 1876, in Mechanicsville. He was married to Maude A. Gilliland in 1898.

Mr. Stoffel was a merchant in Mechanicsville for 47 years, operating a shoe store until he retired about 11 years ago. He was active for many years in the Methodist church and Sunday school and was an honorary member of the board of the church. He was a Mason and a 50-year member of Patmos lodge in Mechanicsville and a member of the Mechanicsville fire department for 41 years. He served as a director of the Mechanicsville Trust & Savings bank for more than 20 years.

In addition to his daughter, Mrs. Krumroy, he is survived by two grandsons, K. Don Krumroy, Mechanicsville, and Wayne Krumroy, San Diego, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Harry Buell, Lone Tree. He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Dr. Henry Stoffel.
