Mrs. Caroline A. Christensen, 89, died at a West Liberty nursing home Jan. 4 after an extended illness. She had resided in West Branch most of her life.

A native of Denmark, she was born Sept. 20, 1869, the daughter of Soran and Mette Anderson, and was married to C. P. Christensen Dec. 23, 1889.

She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran church of West Branch.

Survivors include 5 daughters, Mrs. Christina Sondergard, West Branch, Agnes Christensen, Iowa City, Mrs. Esther Johnson, Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Carrie Hopperstad, Burlington, and Mrs. Eleanor Eves, West Liberty; 4 sons, Alvin, West Branch, Arthur, Wilton Junction, Fred, Rock Island, Ill., and Louis, Pharr, Texas.

She was preceded in death by a son.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Bethany Lutheran church. The Rev. L. A. Kirkegaard officiated. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.
