Stanwood, Ia. July 31--Four persons were killed in an automobile accident Sunday afternoon. The dead are: IRA MILLER, aged 40; MRS. IRA MILLER, aged 30, LOIS MILLER, aged 18, CLARENCE FINKEY, aged 36.Paul and Ruth Miller, 10, and twins, were badly injured, and it is believed the former will die.
The fatal accident occurred at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Northwestern passenger station. Mr. Miller was driving his car across the tracks, and a west bound train concealed an on-coming east bound stock train, which was moving at the rate of 40 miles an hour. The automobile was struck and hurled shattered from the tracks. Mr. and Mrs. Miller were almost instantly killed, and their daughter, Lois, and the hired man, Mr. Finkey, died shortly after the accident.
The victims of the fatal accident were prominent in and around Stanwood, and the whole community was thrown into excitement by the terrible accident Sunday.
