Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Gano Kahl, 81, were held Sunday in the Sheets & Dahn funeral home with the Rev. Arthur Stratemeyer in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mrs. Kahl died suddenly in her sleep Thursday afternoon, Oct. 9, while sitting at her home in Tipton.

Carrie Gano was born on a farm in Inland township March 2, 1877, one of 7 daughters born to James and Leah Ayres Gano. Mrs. Kahl was united with the Church of God at Moneka near Ayresville at an early age. She received her education in the local school of that community and at the age of 18 she became a teacher, and followed this profession for the next 18 years.

She was united in marriage to Henry W. Kahl June 24, 1914, and they established their home on a farm 5 miles northeast of Tipton. They farmed until 1937 when they moved to the present home on Cedar street in Tipton. Mr. Kahl died in 1944.

Mrs. Kahl was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and six sisters, Mrs. F. J. Casterline, Mrs. Charles Leatherby, Mrs. Fred Kahl, Mrs. Paul Hutchens, Amanda Gano and Millie Gano.

She is survived by one great nephew, James Casterline of Tipton, and three great nieces, Mrs. Ruth Pfeifle of Tipton, Mrs. Milton Edwards of Elkhart, Ind., Mrs. Roy James of Wilton Junction, and one brother-in-law, Paul Hutchens of Tipton.
